Special Use Application to build and operate a bed and breakfast at 5531 Sunrise Beach Rd NW. Plans are to permit no more than 6 guests in rooms built over a garage. Zoning is RL 1/1 (1 dwelling per acre). 2012101187. Click here for the files we have on this project.
Notice of Intent with Department of Ecology for a Construction Stormwater Permit involving 12.8 acres of soil disturbance for the clearing and the creation of pasture lands. Stormwater may be discharged to Sanderson Harbor. The proposed project, Schirm Road Plat is located at 8433, 8441, 8447, 8505 and 8511 Schirm Road NW. 30-day public comment period begins 09/17/2011. Notice of Application to build a driveway through a Category II wetland on 5000 block of Miller Road NW. Commercial Development at 5530 78th Avenue NW - The proposal is a phased commercial development in the Rural Commercial Center (RCC) zoning district. Phase 1 includes the construction of three (3) structures totaling approximately 10,500 square feet. Phase 2 will consist of the construction of four (4) structures totaling 12,600 square feet. 2008104481. Click here for documents.
Griffin Fire Department requests a special use permit to construct a water reservoir with an outflow area and underground water lines at its fire station located on Gravelly Beach Loop Road near its intersection with Young Road. The concrete reservoir tank would be 15 feet high and 20 feet in diameter. It would be used to fill fire trucks at the station.2010100757. Click here for documents.
Located off Scott Rd. and 51st Ln., four (4) large lots are proposed consisting of six (6) lots each. Each of the four (4) parent parcels are 40+ acres. Project no. 2009101760-Hoeks and Project no. 2009101764-RJ Development each contain a Category I wetland and associated 200-foot no disturb buffer, Category II wetland and associated 100-foot buffer, and a Type 3 stream, all of which are regulated under the Thurston County Critical Areas Ordinance. Due to the parcels being held in the same ownership less than five (5) years ago, the respective projects are considered physically and functionally related and are being evaluated together (SEPAPOL.801.03). Requesting approval of by the Hearing Examiner of a Reasonable Use Exception to construct a single-family residence (mobile home), within the Carlyon Beach Slide Area (at 10109 Mariner Drive NW). Multipurpose Facility at St. Christopher's Community Church. A 6,670 square foot facility, near 79th and Steamboat Island Road, that would include a parish hall, great room, kitchen, five multi-purpose meeting rooms, offices, a library, a nursery, and bathrooms with showers. The facility could be used for pre-school and after-school tutoring, day care, general community meeting space, and senior activities. The estimated cost is $1.2 million. About $400,000 has been raised so far. St. Christopher's will apply for a Special Use Permit and hope to get the permit by August, 2006. Construction will not start until the Summer of 2007. The church has purchased a small adjacent lot and hope to finish an expanded parking lot by December, 2006.

This application is by Aloha Lumber, a company which has  demonstrated a disregard for shoreline protections and wetland buffers. 2005102585 Click here for more details.
Approximately 75 acres of property owned by Patrick McHale are being sold and/or developed. We have some materials related to the smaller of the two projects but believe that this 13 acre development with two houses will be the first of another 62 acres. Bulkhead replacement at 4320 Eld Ln., NW. 2004101036 A Notice of Application has been mailed and may be viewed by clicking here. This rock bulkhead replaces an existing timber bulkhead, on Eld Inlet. The timber bulkhead is rotting.
Subdivision of 40.19 acres into six lots on the 6000 block of Young Rd. NW. Parcels include a Category II wetland which appears to have been disturbed by logging. 2003103617 Click here to view several documents related to this project. An athletic club, owned by Steamboat Island Athletic Club, LLC, has been approved for construction.
